President Donald Trump made these remarks on Monday, July 14, at a meeting at the White House with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, reports dw.com.

"If we don't have an agreement within 50 days, there will be secondary tariffs," Trump said. "We are going to introduce secondary duties if we do not conclude a deal in 50 days. And they will be at 100%," the US president added.

"I use trading for many purposes," he added. It's great for ending wars.",

Trump is disappointed with Putin

According to the Republican, there are still "constant conversations" in negotiations on peace in Ukraine, including directly between him and Vladimir Putin.

"And then the missiles fly to Kiev and kill people," Trump continued. "This has to stop," the US president demanded. He added that he was "disappointed in Putin" and had hoped to make a deal with him a few months ago.

Trump on 17 Patriot complexes for Ukraine

When asked by reporters whether the United States and its allies plan to supply Ukraine with Patriot air defense systems, Trump replied that this would happen "within a couple of days."

"We have one country that has 17 Patriot complexes preparing for shipment. They won't need them. Therefore, we are going to agree on where these 17 will go - most of them. She will side with the war," Trump added.

According to him, several countries that have these complexes will participate in the Patriot deal. They are "going to swap and replace" them, Trump said. He noted that this work will be coordinated by the US Permanent Representative to NATO Matthew Whitaker. Earlier, Trump stated that Washington was going to sell Patriot systems to the Europeans for their subsequent delivery to Kiev.

"Ukraine will indeed receive a huge amount of military equipment: both air defense, missiles and ammunition," Rutte said at the White House on July 14.
