President Trump posted a message about the duties on his page on the Truth Social network.
Saying that due to China's "disrespect" for global markets, the United States increased tariffs imposed on China to 125 percent, the decision takes effect immediately. "I hope that in the near future, China will realize that the era of exploitation by the United States and other countries is no longer sustainable and unacceptable."
Trump wrote that more than 75 countries have reached out to him to find solutions on issues such as trade, trade barriers, tariffs, currency manipulation, and non-monetary tariffs, with officials from the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. Treasury Department, and the U.S. Trade Representative.
According to him, these countries have not taken any retaliatory measures against the United States. The President noted that he approved the suspension of additional duties for 90 days and the application of a base tariff rate of 10 percent during this period.
US President Trump announced retaliatory tariffs that will apply to other countries on April 2, which he called "liberation day."
The basic tariff rate is 10 percent. Trump also shared information about customs tax rates, which vary from country to country, taking into account tariffs and non-tariff barriers imposed by other countries. aa.com.tr.
