As the regulator explained, these SMS notifications are sent by commercial banks in accordance with the relevant instructions of the Central Bank in order to inform citizens about bank cards issued in their name. For information security and cybersecurity purposes, card numbers are partially hidden in SMS notifications.
In case of any questions regarding the ownership of the bank cards indicated in the SMS notifications, citizens are advised to contact the servicing commercial bank to clarify the information and, if necessary, close unused cards.
It should be noted that in addition to the traditional method of issuing a bank card, fraudsters can register virtual bank cards in the name of citizens using the client's personal account in the bank's mobile application. The card can also be issued by the citizen himself by registering in the banking mobile application.
