A visiting meeting of representatives of the customs services of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan took place at the Navoiy border and customs post.

It was attended by First Deputy Chairman of the Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan G. Nasyrov and Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan K. Jumakulov. Deputy Chairman of the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan O. Choriev and Head of the Tashkent Regional Customs Department K. Umarov were also present.

The parties focused on the issue of eliminating the congestion of passenger vehicles observed in recent days at Uzbek-Kazakh checkpoints.

It was noted that as a result of strengthening friendship, good-neighborliness, strategic cooperation and the development of foreign trade relations between the countries, the number of vehicles and passengers crossing the border has doubled over the past five years.

About 40 thousand citizens and about 2 thousand passenger cars pass through the Navoiy checkpoint every day.

The parties agreed to mobilize additional forces and resources to quickly eliminate congestion.

In addition, due to the low traffic intensity on the way out of Uzbekistan, a reverse traffic pattern was organized on this section - passenger cars are allowed to temporarily enter the country along the exit lane.

Thanks to the measures taken, on the evening of June 4, the congestion at the Navoiy checkpoint was completely eliminated.
