Uzbekistan and Bahrain discuss security cooperation program

    Uzbek diplomats held a meeting with Bahrain's Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa on establishing ties and sharing security experience between the two countries.

    Highly appreciating the large-scale reforms carried out in recent years in our country and their practical results, the minister noted the strengthening of Uzbekistan's position in the international arena and its achievements.

    Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa stressed Bahrain's interest in developing comprehensive cooperation relations with Uzbekistan, in particular in enhancing cooperation in the field of security, expressing satisfaction with the success of the measures initiated by the President of Uzbekistan and noting the need to exchange experience in various fields.

    At the meeting, issues of comprehensively enriching the agenda of cooperation between the Ministries of Internal Affairs of the two countries with high-quality and meaningful content were discussed.

    In particular, the issues of organizing a visit to Uzbekistan by a delegation headed by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Bahrain and the creation of an advisory council between the ministries, holding its first meeting in Tashkent or Manama, were considered.

    The sides stressed the importance of establishing an exchange of experience in such areas as combating terrorism and extremism, preventing drug trafficking and maintaining public order. In order to improve the skills of specialists, it was proposed to organize short-term training courses in the capitals of both countries for Interior Ministry employees, conduct training sessions at the training grounds of the Bahraini side and appoint liaison officers to coordinate joint activities

    At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached on close cooperation between the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Riyadh and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Bahrain.
