Uzbekistan and the United Nations strengthen cooperation in the field of combating crime

    The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting between the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Colonel Ayubkhon Rakhmatullayev, and the head of the regional office of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Afghanistan, Central Asia, Iran and Pakistan, Oliver Stolpe.

    During the talks, the parties discussed in detail issues of joint work in such areas as combating illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and firearms, countering terrorism and extremism, suppressing human trafficking, and preventing cybercrime.

    Special attention was paid to strengthening the material and technical base of the internal affairs bodies and improving the professional training of employees.

    Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on further expansion of cooperation and implementation of joint initiatives.
