Uzbekistan has established diplomatic relations with Saint Lucia

    On September 10, a joint communique on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Saint Lucia was signed in New York City.

    On behalf of the governments of the two countries, the document was signed by the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the United Nations, Ulugbek Lapasov, and the Permanent Representative of Saint Lucia to the United Nations, Menissa Ramballi.

    The parties expressed their willingness to strengthen joint cooperation within international organizations, including the United Nations and its specialized agencies.

    An agreement was reached to intensify bilateral contacts to find mutually beneficial areas of cooperation in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

    The signing of the document was an important step towards enhancing Uzbekistan's cooperation with the Caribbean countries.

    The island nation of Saint Lucia, located in the eastern Caribbean, has become the 163rd country with which Uzbekistan has established diplomatic relations.
