For the first time in history, Uzbekistan accredited its ambassador to the Republic of Cyprus

    Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan with residence in Rome Abat Fayzullayev presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides.

    The Cypriot leader spoke at the ceremony of accepting credentials from foreign ambassadors. In his speech, he warmly welcomed the diplomats, wishing them success in fulfilling their mission and expressing the hope that they would make a significant contribution to the development of bilateral and multilateral relations.

    In his speech, Nikos Christodoulides touched upon the prospects of relations with Uzbekistan, stressing that the Republic of Cyprus pays great attention to them, including within the framework of the European Union.

    It should be noted that diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Cyprus were established on May 30, 1997. Abat Fayzullayev became the first ambassador of Uzbekistan accredited to the Republic of Cyprus. In October 2023, he was appointed Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Italy.
