Uzbek athlete wins’ silver at Riga Marathon

    Marina Khmelevskaya - recorded her name in the history of Uzbek sports, as an athlete of Uzbekistan, who returned a high result for 38 years at the most prestigious athletics competitions.

    One of the most important marathon races took place in the capital of Latvia. Among the athletes from 76 countries, our compatriot won a silver medal.

    According to the press service of the Athletics Federation of Uzbekistan, this is the second highest result of the women's marathon in the history of the country. The last time at the All-Union Athletics Competitions, held in 1984 in Lithuania, Nadia Usmanova with a result of 2:30:36, set a record for athletes from Uzbekistan.

    Khmelevskaya finished second at the competitions in Riga, her time is 2:33:19. It is worth noting that during the competition she managed to beat the leading African, American, and European rivals, losing only to an opponent from Ethiopia.
