On the same day, the diplomat presented copies of his credentials to the head of the Main Protocol Department of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ahmet Cemil Miraoglu.
During the talks at the Turkish Foreign Ministry, prospects for further deepening Uzbek-Turkish bilateral relations of comprehensive strategic partnership and multilateral cooperation within international organizations were discussed, in particular, the participation of the Uzbek delegation in the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which will be held on June 21-22 in Istanbul.
The issues of organizing mutual visits and joint events at various levels, including political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries, were also discussed.
The sides exchanged views on the development of trade and economic cooperation, the intensification of ties between business circles, and the expansion of ties in the cultural, humanitarian, and tourism sectors.
Akhmet Cemil wished the newly appointed Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Turkey success in his diplomatic activities and expressed his readiness to provide the closest assistance in establishing direct contacts with the Council for Foreign Economic Relations (DEIK) in Istanbul.
Ilkhom Khaydarov is 56 years old. Since July 2024, he has served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.
He graduated from Tashkent State University (now the National University of Uzbekistan), the Russian Academy of Foreign Trade, and the International Cotton School in Memphis (USA). He worked in the system of the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations of Uzbekistan (now the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade) and as a trade and economic adviser, Ambassador to Ukraine.
Since 2009, he has been the head of the Uzbekengilsanoat State Joint Stock Company (now the Textile and Clothing Industry Association) for 15 years. At the same time, in 2021-2024, he was elected chairman of the Confederation of Employers of Uzbekistan.

Ilkhom Khaydarov replaced Alisher Agzamkhodjayev, who was elected chairman of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investment and Tourism, who served as Uzbekistan's ambassador to Turkey in 2017-2025 and concurrently in Bulgaria since 2018.
