The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Sports and the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, who expressed support for the national team and wished the athletes successful starts.
The delegation of Uzbekistan marched through the arena under the national flag, greeted with loud applause from the audience.
The flag bearers of the Uzbek team at the opening ceremony were Azizbek Abdugafforov (athletics) and Rushanakhon Ravshanova (taekwondo WT), talented athletes who have already proved themselves at international competitions.
In the current Games, Uzbekistan is represented by 183 athletes who will compete in 20 sports - from athletics, wrestling and judo to gymnastics, swimming and fencing.
The Asian Youth Games are traditionally held under the auspices of the Olympic Council of Asia and serve as an important platform for identifying new talents, strengthening friendship and cooperation between the countries of the region.
The participation of the Uzbek national team in the Games is another step in the development of youth sports and the Olympic movement in the country. Our athletes intend to represent Uzbekistan with dignity, show a high level of training and compete for medals in all major disciplines.
