According to the Report, this was announced by the Minister of Health of the DRC, Samuel Roger Kamba, quoted by the Congolese news portal Actualite.
"To date, we have 31 thousand cases and 988 deaths. The highest mortality rate from MPOS is among children, the under-five age group accounts for 70% of the total number of deaths. MPOX cases have been identified in all 26 provinces of the country," he said.
The minister added that the current outbreak is caused by two strains of mpix, while the most dangerous, according to him, is sexually transmitted.
Kamba said that vaccination against mpos in the east of the country should begin on October 5. According to the plans of the Congolese government, up to 5 million people will be vaccinated.
Recall that the DRC has become the epicenter of the current mpix outbreak in Africa. In total, the cases were detected in 18 countries on the continent. According to the African Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the total number of infected people reaches 34.2 thousand people.
