In the border zone of the Ferghana district of the Ferghana region, there was a conflict between local residents and border troops. The latter opened a warning fire, as a result of which two people were killed.

The incident occurred on the night of October 16. The servicemen of the Border Troops serving in the village of Vuadil, Ferghana district, stopped a car traveling from the gathering of citizens of the mahalla neighborhood "Buston" for inspection in accordance with the established procedure. Two local residents A. M. and O. Y. were in it. During the inspection of the vehicle, inventory items illegally imported into the territory of Uzbekistan were found in its cabin, the press service of the Border Troops of the State Security Service of Uzbekistan reports.

However, when these citizens were escorted to the border guard unit to clarify the circumstances, about ten local residents who had gathered at the scene attacked the servicemen. According to the press service, the attackers, being under the influence of alcohol, did not obey the legal requirements of the military and actively resisted using force. As a result, the border guards received injuries of varying severity.

It was noted that the forces were unequal and the border guards had to open a warning fire in an attempt to stop the illegal actions of citizens. But they still continued to resist.

"Two citizens who continued to actively resist the servicemen, without drawing the correct conclusions from the warning, as a result of the use of weapons, died on the spot," the official press service of the Border Troops said.

It is added that law enforcement agencies are currently conducting investigative actions on the fact of the incident.
