During the cold season, water accumulates in the form of ice, and in spring and summer it gradually melts, providing irrigation for agricultural land.

Currently, four glacial columns have been installed in the Sarchashma makhalla of Shakhrisabz, each of which is capable of storing up to 450 cubic meters of water.

"The technology does not require energy and is environmentally friendly. The project is being implemented with the support of the FAO Representative Office in Uzbekistan, the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change and the Ministry of Agriculture," the khokimiyat of Shakhrisabz district reported.

In the future, it is planned to extend this experience to other mountainous regions of the country.
