In total, more than 1,300 athletes from 16 countries will perform in Kazan as part of the Friendship Games: Russia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Algeria, Armenia, Belarus, Venezuela, Vietnam, Serbia, Kazakhstan, Syria, Sudan, Ecuador, South Africa, the DPR and the LPR, TASS reports.
As part of the first stage, medals will be awarded in three sports - swimming, synchronized swimming and diving. The next stage will unite the Cup of the President of Tatarstan in diving and the Russian Swimming Championship. The third stage will consist of competitions for the Vladimir Salnikov Cup in swimming, the Svetlana Romashina Cup in synchronized swimming and the Dmitry Sautin Cup in diving.
According to the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin, the tournament can become an excellent model for other sports. He added that the department is developing a proposal for a new open format of the competition. It is planned that they will be hosted by Russia and friendly BRICS, SCO, and CIS countries.
The International Swimming Federation will take into account the results of national competitions for fixing in the world ranking.
