On April 1, the amendments made to the Federal Law "On Road Safety" will come into force in the Russian Federation. According to the innovations, driver's licenses issued in other countries will be valid only for a year after their owner receives Russian citizenship, reports aif.ru.
At the same time, in order to obtain new rights of categories "M", "A", "B" and subcategories "A1", "B1", foreigners will only need to pass a theoretical exam. The practical exam will be necessary only to obtain the rights of categories "C" and "D".
The official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Irina Volk, clarified that these requirements will not apply to citizens of states in which Russian is fixed as the official language.
