The collapse occurred on Tuesday, October 7, in the afternoon. The bodies of two people who were considered missing were recovered from the rubble early on Wednesday morning. This is reported by DW, referring to the Madrid emergency services.
"Several ceiling structures of the building, which was being reconstructed, collapsed," Beatrice Martin, a spokeswoman for Madrid's emergency services, told reporters, adding that it was too early to talk about the causes of the accident.
Eyewitnesses and passers-by said they heard a loud explosion and saw thick smoke when the building collapsed.
Shortly before midnight on Tuesday, rescuers also pulled out two bodies. At least three people were injured, including one person who was hospitalized with a broken leg.
