According to the department, the Center for Advanced Technologies at the Ministry of Education and Science conducts research in the field of foodomix together with the University of Copenhagen (Denmark). Fudomix is a field that analyzes the quantity and quality of molecules in food, as well as studies the positive or negative impact of products on human health.
"Currently, the project analyzes the chemical and biological properties of food products. The toxic and pathogenic properties of the most commonly used products, for example, vegetable oils, have been studied at the molecular level. By analyzing the molecular composition of food products, their impact on human health is studied, which will allow creating an analytical foodomix platform. This, in turn, will make it possible to introduce the most up-to-date standard requirements for food. Technologies for analyzing the composition of food and their effect on the human body are also being created," the ministry said in a statement.
It is noted that a large amount of information obtained in the course of scientific research will allow the formation of a comprehensive discipline - foodomix - in Uzbekistan.
Currently, scientists at the Center for Advanced Technologies are studying the impact of food on socially significant diseases - cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes. The results obtained within the framework of this project will be used to achieve the objectives of the project in close cooperation between doctors, biologists, biochemists and analytical chemists.
It is emphasized that this project is unique and the first of its kind in Uzbekistan, which in turn will have a significant impact on improving the situation in the country by eliminating the number one cause of early mortality in the world - cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. Also, according to the results of the research, the most optimal diet for the population of the country will be developed on the basis of national food traditions.
"The implementation of the project will create an evidence-based platform for the formulation of recommendations for the preparation of a diet based on the physiological needs of population groups. It will be possible to reduce the background of morbidity and premature death among the population caused by irrational nutrition, which will directly affect the quality of life of people," the Ministry of Internal Affairs believes.
In addition, it was noted that leveling the epidemiological situation for these diseases will also reduce the burden on the country's budget by reducing medical care costs.
