The purpose of this event is to exercise parliamentary control over the implementation of national goals and objectives in the field of sustainable development of the country, to assist the government in this regard, to increase the level of information content of the population, to expand inter-parliamentary cooperation in achieving development goals, as well as to ensure that these goals are consistent with the reforms implemented within the framework of the Strategy "Uzbekistan - 2030".
If you pay attention to the figures, 24 events will be organized for each national goal with the participation of international experts, during which, along with national goals, current issues discussed at events held within the framework of the UN High-level Political Week will be considered.
In addition, briefings and press conferences will be organized to promote the essence and significance of the UN General Assembly Resolution "On strengthening the role of parliaments in accelerating the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals" adopted on the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on December 14, 2022, as well as reforms carried out within the framework of national goals.
As part of the event, Tashkent will host the II Global Forum on Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
In general, leaders and members of parliaments of foreign countries, inter-parliamentary organizations, youth parliaments, government agencies, international and non-governmental non-profit organizations, representatives of the media, experts of research institutions (more than 500 people in total) are expected to participate in the month of Sustainable Development Goals and the II Global Forum in a traditional and online format.
Civil society institutions are also planning to hold public hearings to discuss national goals.
Within the framework of the Month of Sustainable Development Goals, the essence and significance of the UN General Assembly Resolution "On strengthening the role of Parliaments in accelerating the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals", adopted on the basis of the proposal of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as those put forward at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly and the Consultative Meeting of the Leaders of the countries, will be discussed and promoted with the world community Central Asia initiatives. Thus, the positive image of Uzbekistan in the international arena will be further strengthened.
The Tashkent communique on inter-parliamentary cooperation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals will also be adopted.
In addition, a draft resolution of the UN General Assembly on expanding the participation of civil society institutions in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals has been developed, promoted on the initiative of non-governmental non-profit organizations operating in our country, which is planned to be sent to the UN.
It should be emphasized that these events and the documents developed within its framework contribute to the further improvement of our country's position in the ranking of Sustainable Development Goals.
