Growth points for the development of Khorezm defined

    The current socio-economic issues have been discussed at the meeting with activists of Khorezm region. The growth points of the region have been determined based on the available opportunities in each city, district and mahalla.

    In particular, it was indicated that there are prospects for the development of textile production and tourism in Urgench, tourism and construction materials industry in the city of Khiva, textile production and greenhouses in Gurlan, greenhouses and fruit-vegetable processing in Yangibazar, mechanical and electrical engineering in Tupraqqala districts. Heads of ministries and banks were assigned to each district to implement projects in these areas. The implementation of all projects will create more than 16 thousand jobs.

    In 2021, 500 billion UZS of credit resources will be allocated for the development of family entrepreneurship and increasing the employment of young people and women in the region.

    One of the drivers of Khorezm’s economy is tourism. In this regard, the importance of increasing the number of hotel rooms and organizing permanent and charter flights to Urgench from abroad was noted. In order to develop domestic tourism, it was instructed to improve transport services, in particular, to establish air and rail links with Fergana valley, and to apply a 30% discount on tickets in the initial period. In the future, this experience will be applied in Termez, Samarkand and Bukhara.

    It is planned to build a 413-meter bridge across Amudarya that will connect Khorezm with Karakalpakstan, as well as a 79-kilometer railway from Shavat district to Karauzak. 2,370 kilometers of internal roads will be repaired in the next three years.

    Special attention was paid to social issues. It was instructed to build 100 multi-storey buildings for 2 thousand apartments next year and improve drinking water supply in all districts of the region.

    Measures for the development of education, medicine and culture were defined.

    At the meeting, the President held a conversation with youth of the region. After listening to each proposal, the Head of the state gave appropriate instructions to responsible persons.

    “We live in hard times, difficult conditions. In such conditions, each district, each mahalla has its own place and goals. Khorezm should set high goals for itself”, the Head of the state noted.
