    Resolution No. 166 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 03/29/2024 "On measures to reduce the negative impact of vehicles on atmospheric air" was adopted.

    From June 1, 2024, the "Eco-friendly transport" system will be launched in stages, within the framework of which:

    • the territories, depending on their actual ecological situation, will be divided into "clean", "medium" and "harmful" ecological zones;
    • Vehicles will be assigned "green", "yellow" and "red" stickers based on their diagnostics;
    • Compensation payments will be introduced for vehicles whose ecological category does not correspond to the ecological zone, or they will be banned or restricted from entering the relevant ecological zone.

    The "Eco-friendly transport" system will be implemented:

    • at the first stage (2024-2026) - in Tashkent;
    • at the second stage (2026-2028) - in Nukus and regional centers, as well as, if necessary, in certain ecological zones (tourist centers, nature reserves, wellness centers, recreation areas, etc.);
    • at the third stage (2028-2030) - throughout the rest of the territory.

    Starting from June 1, 2024, in all regions of the republic, when registering and re-registering vehicles, checking the level of compliance with regulations and issuing eco-tickers will be carried out in stages in the State Traffic Police without charging a separate fee for these services.

    In other cases, vehicles must be checked to determine the degree of compliance with regulations and the issuance of eco-tickers in the departments of the State Traffic Police, free provision of this service will be carried out:

    • in Tashkent - until January 1, 2027;
    • in Nukus and regional centers, as well as in certain ecological zones - until January 1, 2029;
    • in all other regions - until January 1, 2031.

    Owners of electric cars and electric motorcycles, as well as other vehicles no older than three years old, can receive "green" stickers online without diagnosis. The stickers will be sent to them by mail.

    The document was published in the National Database of Legislation and entered into force on 30.03.2024, Norma reports.
