Uzbekistan Airports reported that on June 2, the first flight of Shirak Avia from Yerevan landed at Tashkent International Airport. There were 127 passengers on board the plane. According to aviation tradition, the aircraft was greeted with a water arch, and the crew was presented with flowers.

On the same day, the official opening of check-in for the first flight on the Tashkent - Yerevan route took place at the capital's airport. 177 passengers took their debut flight to the Armenian capital.

The launch of the new route provides direct flights between the two capitals and creates additional opportunities for the development of tourism, business ties and cultural exchange between Uzbekistan and Armenia.

Flights will be operated once a week on Boeing 737 aircraft. Previously, passengers had to travel between Tashkent and Yerevan with transfers via Moscow, Istanbul, Tbilisi and other cities.

Shirak Avia is an Armenian airline based at Zvartnots International Airport in Yerevan. The carrier operates international flights to various destinations and operates Boeing 737 family aircraft.
