The
ceremony took place at the Itamarati Palace of Official Events with the
participation of representatives of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
and the Presidential Administration, the Dunyo news agency reports.
During the
conversation, the President of Brazil asked to convey his sincere greetings and
best wishes to the President of Uzbekistan and the entire Uzbek people.
The
Brazilian side confirmed its interest in further deepening bilateral relations,
stressing that it considers Uzbekistan as a promising and reliable partner.
They also
confirmed their readiness to intensify political dialogue at the highest level,
expand trade, economic and investment cooperation, as well as fill practical
interaction between the two countries with concrete content.
The
Brazilian side expressed gratitude to Uzbekistan for the consistent support of
Brazil's initiatives at the UN, BRICS and other international organizations.
During his
visit to Brazil, Ambassador Furkat Sidikov also held bilateral talks with
Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira, Head of the Ministry of Development,
Industry, Trade and Services - Advisor to President Rogerio Zerbone, Deputy
Foreign Minister Sergio Clibank, as well as President of the ApexBrasil state
Agency Jorge Viana.
Following
the meetings, a number of agreements were reached providing for joint work on
visits and meetings at the highest and highest levels, the creation of an
Intergovernmental Commission on trade and Economic Issues, the extensive use of
the first Trading House of Uzbekistan opened in Rio de Janeiro in the
development of commercial relations, and the promotion of its activities, the
organization of exports of Uzbek mineral fertilizers, and the intensification
of cooperation. in the fields of geology, higher education and sports, as well
as the use of simplified procedures to expand the access of Uzbek products to
the Brazilian market.
In
addition, an agreement was reached to work together with the assistance of the
Brazilian Government to prepare a schedule of negotiations with leading
Brazilian companies, organize mutual visits and develop investment proposals.
In May
2023, Ambassador Furkat Sidikov presented his credentials to U.S. President
Joseph Biden as the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United States of America.
In October of the same year, the Ambassador handed over copies of his
credentials to the Brazilian Ambassador to the United States for appointment as
Ambassador to Brazil with residence in Washington. In June 2024, Furkat Sidikov
also presented his credentials to Governor General of Canada Mary Simon as the
Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Canada.
