The opening
ceremony of the forum was attended by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and
Director General of the International Organization for Migration Amy Pope, who
outlined key areas of global migration policy.
The head of
the Migration Agency, Behzod Musayev, presented information on the ongoing reforms
in Uzbekistan in the field of migration, the system of professional and
language training, as well as the results of international cooperation. In his
speech, he stressed that migration is considered not only as an economic
necessity, but also as an investment in human capital.
During the
meeting with Ugochi Daniels, Deputy Director General of the International
Organization for Migration, the parties discussed issues of protecting the
rights of citizens working abroad, as well as organizational aspects of the
International Migration Forum in Tashkent.
Key
agreements with American partners
An
agreement was signed with Logan University on cooperation in the field of
training medical professionals for the US labor market, launching joint
educational programs and developing human resources.
A mechanism
for training and employment of truck drivers under a special 160-hour program
in accordance with US standards was discussed with representatives of the
Missouri Trucking School.
The
prospects for cooperation between the Migration Agency and NCAE regarding the
organization of a labor forum with the participation of employers and the
expansion of seasonal employment programs were also considered.
Agreements
have been reached with the Head Honchos organization on the issues of issuing
H-2A visas, promoting Uzbekistan's human resources potential in the US
agricultural sector, as well as launching preparatory programs lasting 8-10
weeks.
In
addition, employment opportunities for Uzbek citizens in the United States on
O, H-2A, H-2B, H-1B and E visas were discussed with Ballon Stoll law firm, as
well as measures to strengthen legal protection mechanisms for Uzbek citizens
working in the United States.
