The proposed amendments would replace the wording “medical workers” with “medical and pharmaceutical workers” in the current legislation. The holiday is proposed to be celebrated on the second Sunday of November.
As noted during the parliamentary session, more than 50,000 specialists work in the country’s pharmaceutical sector. The population is served by 504 pharmaceutical manufacturing enterprises, 478 distribution organizations, and more than 14,000 pharmacies.
According to the authors of the draft law, the amendments would bring the terminology used in legislation into line with the laws “On the Protection of Citizens’ Health” and “On Medicines and Pharmaceutical Activities.”
The proposed amendments are expected to help raise the public standing of pharmaceutical workers and strengthen both material and moral support for them.
