The project
is based on the principle of "a city for pedestrians", which provides
convenient crossings, a reduction in the number of conflict areas, clear
traffic management and a priority for the safety of residents and guests of the
capital.
The project
will be implemented comprehensively, taking into account car traffic, public
transport, walking routes and further development of the territory around one
of the key urban hubs.
According
to the presented decisions of the Traffic Management Center (TSODD), it is
planned to dismantle metal fences at the transition from Broadway to Amir Temur
Square. Instead, they will create a barrier-free environment and install a
smart traffic light to ensure safe and priority pedestrian movement.
Security
islands and modern traffic lights for pedestrians will also appear at the
entrances from Makhtumkuli Street, near the Palace of Forums, Amir Temur Street
and the Temurid Museum.
To
streamline the movement of tourist transport, it is planned to create special
parking lots for tourist buses at the Temurid Museum and the Uzbekistan Hotel.
It is
expected that due to the optimization of the traffic pattern, the capacity of
the roundabout will increase from 5,600 to 6,000 vehicles per hour, while
reducing the number of conflict points.
As noted,
the main goal of the project is to make the central part of the city safer,
more convenient and more balanced for all road users.
