The agreement between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan on the demarcation of the Uzbek-Kazakh state border has been submitted to the UN Secretariat for registration

    Within the framework of the "high-level week" of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, the necessary documents were handed over for registration and publication of the Agreement between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan on the demarcation of the Uzbek-Kazakh state border at the UN Secretariat in accordance with Article 102 of the Charter of the Organization.

    The agreement was signed by President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on December 22, 2022 during the state visit of the head of Kazakhstan to Tashkent and entered into force on July 4, 2023. This document was the result of many years of joint work on the international legal registration of the Uzbek-Kazakh state border.

    During the meeting held on September 25 this year on the sidelines of the session of the UN General Assembly in New York, the foreign ministers of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan noted that the registration of the Agreement on the Demarcation of the state border in the UN Secretariat is an unprecedented experience for the countries of the Central Asian region in relation to such documents.

    The historical significance of the document was emphasized and it was noted that this event is another confirmation of the commitment of the two countries to the principles of good neighborliness and eternal friendship, the spirit of allied relations, their readiness for mutually beneficial cooperation for the benefit of common prosperity, and also contributes to further strengthening security and stability in Central Asia, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
