Below are
the key quotes from our compatriots:
Fabio
Cannavaro:
"We
have carefully studied the playing style of the Portuguese national team. This
team likes to control the course of the match through possession of the ball.
In addition, the Portuguese are eager to actively start meetings in order to
seize the initiative as quickly as possible and open up the opponent's
defenses.
Based on
this, we built our training. We have our own plan and strategy, and we will try
to show our football on the field. We are well aware that we have to play
against a very strong team, however, as I said earlier, we are not afraid of
this challenge. Our task is to show our best and fight until the final whistle.
As I have
already mentioned, we are not only playing against Cristiano Ronaldo. He is one
of the greatest footballers in history, but Portugal is not just about Ronaldo.
There are enough players of the highest level in their main squad and among the
reserve players. Nevertheless, in the penalty area, Ronaldo should not be
ignored for a second.
He is
capable of scoring at any moment, both after the standard position and during
the game. Therefore, we need to maintain maximum concentration throughout the
match.
Since I
joined the national team, special attention has been paid to the physical
condition of the players. Some players played in different championships, while
others had certain problems. Nevertheless, I saw in the previous match that the
team is in good shape. The players finished the meeting at a high pace and felt
great.
Of course,
analyzing statistics is not easy. For example, the speed of the ball movement
says a lot about the technical level of the team. I don't like to evaluate
football solely through physical indicators. Ultimately, what matters is how
the team controls the ball, executes passes, and how rarely it loses.
In my
opinion, if you lose the ball 20 times in a match, then you will have to make
an effort 20 times to get it back. This is a very important factor. The
statistics of the Portuguese national team are really impressive in many ways.
We understand this and have carefully analyzed it.
At the same
time, we do not need to randomly move around the entire field. What matters is
not how much you run, but how effectively you do it. The main thing is to
minimize the loss of the ball and understand where and how to get it
back."
Eldor
Shomurodov:
"There
is no pressure on us. Therefore, I think it will be easier for us to play
tomorrow than for Portugal. We have formed a great team. After the first match,
we became even more confident in ourselves - our World Cup debut is already
behind us. Tomorrow we will go out on the field for a good result.
We didn't
pay much attention to the results of our opponent's first match. Now is not the
time to think about it. Perhaps we will discuss this after the third round, but
at the moment the most important thing for us is tomorrow's game.
I think
that the mistakes in the first half of the meeting with Colombia were due to
the fact that we failed to fully implement the coaching instructions. Tomorrow
we will try to avoid such mistakes, show our football, control the ball more
and create dangerous moments.
Abbos and I
play together not only in the national team, but also in the club. We
constantly interact in training and understand each other well on the field.
However, the most important thing is to act as a single team and achieve the
desired result."
