On Monday, at 07:38 local time, a powerful magnitude 7.8 earthquake occurred off the coast of Mindanao Island in the Philippines. Earlier, the Philippine Office of Civil Defense had reported 15 fatalities.
“The death toll from Monday's magnitude 7.8 earthquake off the coast of Mindanao has reached 19, the Office of Civil Defense reported,” the television channel's report said.
According to ABS-CBN, the official representative of the department, Junie Castillo, stated that 16 people were killed in the Soccsksargen region and three people died in the Davao region.
Castillo also noted that seven people are currently missing and 134 people were injured, reported by ria.ru.
