The Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan has determined the transition to the production of high-octane gasoline of the Euro-5 class and the abandonment of the AI-80 gasoline of the Euro-2 class through the implementation of the modernization project of the Bukhara refinery.

According to the information service of Uzbekneftegaz JSC, the project provides for the production of high-octane gasoline AI-92 and AI-95 in the amount of 60% and 40%, respectively. At the same time, all gasoline produced in the amount of over 1.0 million tons per year will comply with the Euro-5 environmental class, which in turn will make it possible to abandon the production of AI-80 of the Euro-2 class.

It is projected to implement the project in a short time in the period 2024-2025 in the "Fast-Track" mode with parallel design and construction.

In order to implement the project, cooperation has been established with the Licensor of technologies, the company "Axens" (France) for the design of technological installations.

The technological configuration of the project provides for the construction of a new naphtha hydrotreating plant with a capacity of 360 thousand tons per year, an isomerization plant with a capacity of 380 thousand tons per year, and a selective hydrogenation plant for pyrolysis distillate with a capacity of 60.0 thousand tons per year.

For parallel design, agreements have been reached with the licensor of technologies, Aksens, on a License Agreement for the use of Licensor's technologies, including staff training and an Agreement to develop a package of Licensor's design documentation.

Within the framework of the agreements reached, the above-mentioned agreements were signed.

In order to implement the agreements reached, the company "Aksens" and JSC "Uzbekneftegaz" held a kick-off meeting with the participation of a potential general contractor, which in turn is the beginning of the process of designing technological installations. At the same time, the Licensor's project documentation development period will take 5.5 months from the date of the start meeting.
