Uzbek Foreign Minister receives EU Special Representatives

    On February 22, 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received the Special Representative of the European Union for Central Asia Teri Hakala and the EU Special Envoy for Afghanistan Thomas Nicklasson, who arrived in Tashkent on a working visit.

    During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and prospects of relations between Uzbekistan and the European Union in the Afghan direction.

    Special attention was paid to organizational aspects and the agenda of the consultative meeting of the EU and Central Asian Special Representatives on Afghanistan, which will be held on February 23 this year in Tashkent.

    The importance of developing a consolidated position of the international community on the settlement of the Afghan crisis was emphasized.

    EU representatives expressed support for Uzbekistan's initiative to establish an international hub in Termez to coordinate the delivery of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.

    Proposals on the schedule of upcoming bilateral and interregional events at various levels were considered, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
