Secretariat of the "Central Asia and China" format to be established

    Deputies of the Legislative Chamber adopted the draft law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On ratification of the Regulation on the Secretariat of the 'Central Asia and China' format" and sent it to the Senate.

    The "Central Asia and China" format is an interstate structure in the form of a platform, and its Secretariat is being established through the signing of relevant constituent documents by China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

    This diplomatic dialogue format is being established to raise cooperation between the states to a new level, establish centuries old ties of friendship and partnership based on mutual respect and trust, establish close relations, and expand practical cooperation.

    The Secretariat of the "Central Asia and China" format is being established in accordance with the Xi'an Declaration adopted by the participating states of this format on May 19, 2023.

    The Secretariat will be the executive body of the Format. The Secretariat will provide organizational, technical, and informational support for the summits and meetings of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Format's participating states.

    This draft law provides for the ratification of the Regulation on the Secretariat of the "Central Asia and China" format. The Regulation on the Secretariat of the "Central Asia and China" format consists of a preamble and 4 sections. The document legally solidifies the Secretariat's tasks, powers, structure and composition, rights, obligations, and status.

    It was noted at the meeting that the adoption of the draft law will ensure Uzbekistan's participation in the Secretariat of the "Central Asia and China" format, allow for the proper promotion of regional initiatives within this platform, and adequately protect national interests.

    The draft law was adopted by the deputies and sent to the Senate.
