The department noted that there are still issues that are being discussed with the marketplace regarding previous periods. Negotiations are currently underway.
Upon completion of the process, the final conclusion on its activities will be announced.
Recall that in early March, information appeared about possible restrictions for TEMU in the republic. A joint statement by the National Agency for Advanced Projects and the Tax Committee clarified that according to Cabinet Resolution No. 885 of December 26, 2024, e-commerce operators, including online trading platforms, can only be companies registered as residents of Uzbekistan. This regulatory act has entered into force since its official publication.
When analyzing the activities of foreign marketplaces operating in the Uzbek market, inconsistencies were identified with a number of requirements of national legislation. In particular, they discussed the areas of e-commerce, retail, advertising, personal data protection, consumer rights, as well as copyright and related rights.
In this regard, it was previously announced that access to the Temu platform in Uzbekistan will be limited from March 20, 2025. However, after registering in the country as a resident, the marketplace will be able to continue its work in accordance with legal requirements.
