MICA and French analytical center expand expert cooperation

Director of the International Institute of Central Asia (MICA) Javlon Vakhabov met with Emmanuel Dupuy, President of the Institute for European Perspectives and Security Studies (IPSE).

At the meeting, the parties discussed the results of the recent state visit of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to France, which opened new horizons for strengthening Uzbek-French relations and strategic partnership.

    E. Dupuis noted that this visit was a logical continuation of the development of relations between France and the Central Asian countries after the official visits of French President Emmanuel Macron to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in November 2023, which emphasized the mutual desire to deepen cooperation between France and the Central Asian states.

Also E.Dupuis noted that France, being one of the founding countries of the European Union, has followed a path of integration and cooperation similar to the processes currently taking place in Central Asia. He expressed confidence that the exchange of experience and expert support from think tanks such as IPSE and MICA will contribute to the successful implementation of regional initiatives and strengthen ties between Europe and Central Asia.

It was noted that in order to ensure the long-term effectiveness of such diplomatic initiatives, they need scientific and research support from analytical centers that form expert assessments, develop recommendations and contribute to the development of strategic solutions.

In this regard, an agreement was reached to hold joint forums, conferences, round tables and consultations on issues of mutual interest, which will also expand the dialogue, promote the exchange of experience and strengthen academic cooperation between the two think tanks.

Following the meeting, J.Vakhabov and E.Dupuis signed a memorandum of cooperation, which lays a solid foundation for a long-term partnership and further strengthening expert cooperation between MICA and IPSE.

For reference: IPSE is a Paris-based analytical center, founded in 1998, specializing in research on international security, diplomacy, and problems of social development and geopolitics. The Institute conducts research, organizes seminars and publishes analytical materials, developing practical recommendations for national and European policy makers.
