On October 16 of this year, a meeting with the expert mission of the Kimberley Process was held in Tashkent, dedicated to the issues of diamond trade and the prevention of trade in "conflict diamonds".

During the event, Uzbekistan's commitment to participate in the Kimberley Process was confirmed as an important step towards responsible and transparent regulation of trade in natural resources.

The parties discussed measures to increase transparency in the economy of Uzbekistan and the development of domestic jewelry production. The adopted Presidential Decree No.UP-104 dated July 23, 2024 "On measures for the further development of the jewelry industry and ensuring its competitiveness" is aimed at accelerating the country's accession to the Kimberley Process.

It was noted that for successful integration into the Kimberley Process system, it is necessary to create conditions for the import of rough diamonds, which is a priority for the further development of the jewelry industry.

In conclusion, they expressed mutual readiness for further active cooperation, including with a view to introducing additional mechanisms for monitoring and controlling the diamond trade in Uzbekistan.
