The current meeting, chaired by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan (in an online format), was also attended by the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, as well as the Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade of the Islamic Republic of Iran – an observer country to the EAEU Seyed Mohammad Atabak. The President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel addressed the participants with a video message.
The agenda included further enhancing multilateral trade and economic cooperation, support for industrial cooperation projects, and implementing joint programs in priority areas of interaction.
The President of Uzbekistan noted that in recent years, Uzbekistan, as an observer, has established fruitful cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union in 22 areas.
In 2024, Uzbekistan’s trade turnover with the Union countries increased by 11 percent. In October, a new three-year Cooperation Plan with the Eurasian Economic Commission was adopted, including about 40 events in trade, industry, the financial sector, agriculture, transport, etc.
Uzbekistan has also actively joined several sectoral programs of the EAEU in the digitalization of trade and cargo transportation, the introduction of e-commerce, and the fight against climate change.
Preparations are underway for the fourth meeting of the joint Working Group in March next year.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev separately focused on the priorities of mutually beneficial cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union.
In particular, he called for gradually eliminating trade barriers in mutual trade. In this context, it was proposed to work out the issue of non-application of tariff and non-tariff restrictions in trade between Uzbekistan and the EAEU states at the expert level.
Readiness was expressed to hold consultations soon on the convergence of technical regulation systems, with the adoption of a Practical Action Plan.
The Leader of Uzbekistan spoke in favor of the country's participation in the Agreement on a Unified Customs Transit System to be signed following the event, as well as the speedy introduction of electronic data exchange on goods and vehicles moving across customs borders.
Interest was expressed in joining the mechanisms and tools to support industrial cooperation and localization programs.
“To form reliable financial sources for promoting joint projects, we plan to complete the procedures and join the Eurasian Development Bank at the beginning of next year”, the President of Uzbekistan noted.
To more actively involve businesses and create favorable conditions for strengthening business ties, it was proposed to hold a meeting of the EAEU Business Council in Tashkent in April 2025.
The importance of systemic interaction in digital technologies and artificial intelligence was noted. An initiative was put forward to connect Uzbekistan to the Integrated Information System of the EAEU and the Digital Union project.
In agriculture, it was proposed to prepare a cooperation program to facilitate mutual access to agricultural products, implement innovative agro-industrial projects and introduce scientific developments.
To stimulate tourist exchanges, the President of Uzbekistan expressed readiness to introduce a procedure allowing citizens of the EAEU states to enter Uzbekistan with internal documents.
