The Hurun Group's annual report, published on March 5, reveals that China now accounts for 1,110 out of the 4,020 billionaires worldwide—an increase of 287 in just one year. This growth compensated for losses over the past three years and allowed China to surpass the United States (1,000 billionaires) and India (308 billionaires).
The development of technology, particularly AI, has become a primary source of new wealth. Among the new Chinese billionaires are Yan Junjie of MiniMax ($3.6 billion) and Liu Debin of Knowledge Atlas Technology JSC ($1.2 billion). Globally, 114 billionaires are linked to AI companies, with 46 entering the rankings for the first time.
The Top 3 individuals on the Hurun list are Elon Musk ($792 billion), Jeff Bezos ($300 billion), and Larry Page ($281 billion). Musk has become the first person in history to surpass a net worth of $700 billion. New York remains the leading city for billionaires with 146, followed by Shenzhen (132), Shanghai, Beijing, and London.
