The contribution of the Uzbekistan people to the Great Victory is enormous. By 1941, the population of Uzbekistan was over 6 million 800 thousand people. About 2 million of our compatriots were sent to the front during the war. More than 500 thousand people, dear to us, real heroes, died in fierce battles, and thousands more returned home disabled.
Uzbekistan people worked tirelessly day and night, continuously supplying large quantities of food, clothing, weapons, and medicines to the front. About 170 plants and factories were evacuated to Uzbekistan and returned to operation quickly.
The country has received more than 1 million 500 thousand elderly, women, and children affected by the war. More than 200 thousand orphans were among them.
In Uzbekistan, special attention is paid to perpetuating the feat of our ancestors who fought in the Second World War and worked selflessly in the rear. Participants and invalids of the war are encouraged annually. Priority is given to taking care of their health. The majestic Victory Park with the memorial “Ode to Fortitude” and the Museum of Glory opened in Tashkent.
The Victory Parade took place in Red Square. It was also attended by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.
Following the parade, the Head of state, together with the leaders of other countries, laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Alexander Garden and honored the memory of soldiers, including the sons of Uzbekistan, who laid down their lives for their homeland in the Second World War.
Thereupon, the President of Uzbekistan completed his visit to Russia. At the airport, the Minister of Economic Development of Russia Maxim Reshetnikov, and other officials have seen off the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The President of Uzbekistan has departed for Tashkent.
