At the beginning of the meeting, the newly elected President of the Olympic Council of Asia, Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al Thani, conveyed to the President of Uzbekistan sincere greetings and best wishes from the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The Leader of Uzbekistan expressed gratitude for the decision to hold the assembly in Tashkent, noting the high level of trust in Uzbekistan as a reliable partner in the international sports movement.
It was noted that the development of sports has been identified as a priority area within the framework of the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy.
The Uzbek side’s readiness to strengthen cooperation with international sports organizations and to implement joint programs and initiatives to achieve practical results was emphasized.
Following the event, for his significant contribution to the development of sports and the strengthening of international sports cooperation, the President of Uzbekistan presented the Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia and President of the World Aquatics Federation, Husain Al-Musallam, with a high state award – the “Dustlik” (Friendship) Order of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
