President of the Republic of Uzbekistan receives the President of the Islamic Development Bank

    On September 2, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the President of the Islamic Development Bank Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser, who is visiting Uzbekistan within the framework of the program of the 46th Annual Meetings of the IsDB Board of Governors, in Tashkent.

    The IsDB President cordially congratulated the President of Uzbekistan and the people of the country on the 30th anniversary of independence, sincerely wishing further development, well-being and prosperity.

    It was noted with satisfaction that these days in Tashkent, for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, the most important event of the Bank is being held in a face-to-face format.

    The event is attended by representatives of the governments of the IsDB member countries, heads of international organizations, business people, experts, and the media. About 4.5 thousand delegates are taking part in online and offline formats.

    The Leader of Uzbekistan once again congratulated Muhammad Al Jasser on his election as IsDB President.

    Views were exchanged on the further development of cooperation.

    President Shavkat Mirziyoyev highly appreciated the ongoing expansion of partnership with the IsDB, highlighting its important contribution and support in promoting a new program of large-scale reforms in Uzbekistan.

    The portfolio of practical interaction includes 29 projects worth about $2.5 billion, covering the spheres of transport, housing and communal infrastructure, energy, agriculture and water management, healthcare, education, entrepreneurship and other priority areas.

    At the meeting, the main attention was paid to the prospects for enhancing the multifaceted partnership.

    In this context, the importance of the adoption and implementation of a new cooperation program for 2022-2025 and the launch of a full-fledged representative office of the Bank in Tashkent, increasing the efficiency of financing instruments was emphasized.

    The hope was expressed that the activities of the future Fund for Expanding Economic Opportunities of Uzbekistan will serve as an effective mechanism to support private entrepreneurship initiatives, promote the creation of new jobs and improve the well-being of the population, especially women and youth.

    An agreement was reached to continue close interaction and active contacts to develop strategic partnership and full-scale cooperation between Uzbekistan and the IsDB.
