The President of Uzbekistan thanked the Federal President for the invitation to visit Germany and the cordial welcome.
The Presidents noted with satisfaction the unprecedented dynamics in the development of multifaceted collaboration between Uzbekistan and Germany. Intensive political, humanitarian and business contacts continue. The parties provide mutual support within the framework of authoritative international institutions, including the United Nations.
A common opinion was expressed on the importance of bringing bilateral relations to a higher level.
The Presidents considered the issues of enhancing trade, economic, investment and technological cooperation, and defined priority areas for practical interaction.
In recent years, trade turnover and the number of joint projects have doubled. The volume of German investments in Uzbekistan’s economy is 5.5 billion euros, including 4 billion euros attracted over the previous few years.
The Presidents welcomed the results of the business events, in which trade contracts and investment technology agreements worth more than 9 billion euros were concluded.
Berlin highly appreciates Uzbekistan’s efforts to ensure stability and prosperity in the Central Asian region.
In this context, Germany expressed its readiness to support regional connectivity projects, including within the framework of the EU Global Gateway Initiative.
Interest was expressed in strengthening partnerships in ensuring regional security, countering modern challenges and threats, primarily in the context of the situation in Afghanistan.
The importance of continuing targeted humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people, including using the capabilities of the established infrastructure in the border city of Termez, was emphasized.
The main attention was paid to the issues of cultural and humanitarian exchange. The leaders welcomed the opening of a unique exhibition of the cultural and historical heritage of Uzbekistan in the city of Berlin.
An agreement was reached on the preparation of a comprehensive program for the study of the German language in Uzbekistan, including expanding the activities of the Goethe-Institut in Uzbekistan’s regions.
Following the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited Frank-Walter Steinmeier to visit Uzbekistan.
