The Greek Parliament has elected Kostas Tasoulas as president

The Greek Parliament has elected former Speaker of Parliament Kostas (Konstantinos) Tasoulas as President, who was nominated by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

As the Report reports with reference to TASS, this is evidenced by the results of the fourth round of voting held in the main legislative body of the country.

The first three rounds of voting, held on January 25 and 31, as well as on February 6, were unsuccessful. In the first and second rounds of voting, a two-thirds majority (200 votes in the 300-seat parliament) was required to elect the President of Greece, and in the third, a three-fifths majority (180 votes). In all three rounds, 160 parliamentarians voted for Tasoulas. In the fourth round, the President is elected by a majority of 151 votes. The ruling New Democracy Party, which nominated Tasoulas, has 156 deputies in the supreme legislative body.
