The TV channel reports that Portugal officially recognized the state of Palestine this Sunday. This was announced by Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel at Portugal's UN mission in New York.

According to the TV channel, the decision was reached as a result of consultations that harmonized the positions of President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and an absolute majority of the parties in parliament. Lisbon confirmed its support for the establishment of two sovereign states—Israel and Palestine—and once again condemned "the horrific terrorist attacks of October 7, 2023.".

The decision was made jointly with nine other countries: France, Andorra, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Luxembourg, Malta, the United Kingdom, and San Marino, ria.ru reported.
