The Uzbek language holiday was celebrated in Khujand

    A literary evening was held in the city of Khujand in the Sugd region of Tajikistan on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the assignment of the Uzbek language to the status of the state language.

    The event was attended by representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan, the Uzbek Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment of Sugd region, the Tajikistan-Uzbekistan Friendship Society, the Khujand Friendship Society, writers and poets, the public of the city and compatriots, the Dune news agency reports.

    The literary evening was led by the deputy chairman of the Uzbek Center, international journalist, holder of the badge "Khalklar dystligi" Azod Meliboev.

    The festive event was opened by a public figure, chairman of the Uzbek Center, knight of the Order of Uzbekistan "Do’stlik" Ilkhom Yusupov.

    The speakers noted the importance and role of the Uzbek language, told about the history of its origin and the area of distribution, granting the Uzbek language the status of the state language in Uzbekistan.

    At the event, poet Erali Jiyan from Maschi district, poet Sharofat Turdiali from Spitamen, poet Yakubjon Ochilov from Istaravshan, poet Abdullajon Dustiy presented their new poetry collections and books.

    At the end of the event, the staff of the Embassy of Uzbekistan presented books by famous writers of Uzbekistan to all participants.
