Of those
pardoned, 604 will be completely exempted from punishment, and 115 will be
conditionally released from serving their sentences ahead of schedule.
This was
reported in the "Akhborot" program on the "Uzbekistan 24"
television channel.
Additionally,
the sentences imposed on 52 individuals will be replaced with milder
punishments, and the prison terms of 81 convicts will be reduced.
Among
those pardoned are 7 foreign citizens, as well as 63 individuals who
participated in the activities of prohibited organizations.
Furthermore,
among those pardoned, 375 are youth, 49 are women, and 37 are men over the age
of 60.
The
Presidential decree was adopted based on the principles of humanism toward
individuals serving prison terms who have repented of their deeds and taken the
path of correction, ahead of the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence.
