According to the press service of the Surkhandarya Regional Ecology Department, the incident occurred on December 10, 2025, in the "Beshkapa" neighborhood of the Uzun district. It was noted that citizen M.I.'s sheep were attacked by a wolf while grazing in a hilly area.
In his explanatory letter, the citizen stated that he pursued the wolf to prevent damage to his livestock and save them, which resulted in the wolf's death.
Based on the official act drawn up regarding the situation, it was determined that the citizen's actions violated the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the Protection and Use of Flora and Fauna." Liability measures were set in accordance with Article 53 of the same law.
Additionally, based on Administrative Responsibility, the citizen was fined totaling 8,240,000 UZS.
It is stated that according to Uzbek law, the wolf is among the protected wild animal species. Cruelty, torture, or illegal actions toward it are contrary to current legislation and lead to liability in the established manner.
The Surkhandarya Regional Main Department of Ecology and Climate Change urged the population to be compassionate toward nature, especially wild animals, to strictly follow environmental laws, and to rely only on official sources for information.
