Representatives of over 180 UN member states take part in the event in the traditional form and online format.

The main topic of this session was the issues of increasing the participation of women in the promotion of policies and programs aimed at reducing the risks of climate change, the environment and disasters.

Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva took part in the 66th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women with a video message.

The Senate Speaker noted that she fully supports the activities of the Commission as a key intergovernmental forum for constructive dialogue and the main coordinating body within the UN on gender issues.

In addition, it was emphasized that the large-scale reforms carried out under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in the country provide for the empowerment of all women and girls, which is one of the priorities of state policy. The achieved results and successes in gender equality issues were also noted.

Thus, it was noted that in January of this year, the Strategy for the Development of the New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026 was adopted, in which issues of support for women and further increasing their activity in society were identified as a key direction of state policy.

It was emphasized that the National Program for 2022-2026 has been approved to continue systematic work to increase the role and participation of women in the reforms carried out in the country. Its goals are fully in tune with the objectives of the Strategic Plan of the UN Women Structure for 2022-2025.

In addition, attention was also paid to changes in the environment. In particular, the efforts and new initiatives undertaken by Uzbekistan, headed by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh.M.Mirziyoyev, to solve these problems were brought to the participants of the session.

In particular, attention was focused on the work on the widespread use of renewable energy sources, the transition to a "green" economy, the socio-economic development of the Aral Sea region, the development of specific measures, increasing the role of women in their implementation in practice, and support for women's entrepreneurship.

Other opinions and suggestions on the current topic were also expressed.
