    President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Presidential candidate from the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businesspeople – the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the polling station No. 59 of Mirzo Ulugbek district in Tashkent on October 24 with family members and voted in the elections.

    To elect and be elected is one of the basic political rights of citizens. The Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan guarantees the right to vote, equality and freedom of expression.

    Over the past five years, the national electoral legislation has been improved, the practice of holding elections has reached a qualitatively new level. This year's Presidential Elections are held for the first time based on the Election Code adopted on June 25, 2019.

    The Central Election Commission has formed 14 electoral districts and 10,761 polling stations for the Presidential Elections of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

    Five political parties operating in the country are taking part in the elections, equal conditions have been created for them.

    The pre-election process took place in conditions of further deepening democratic transformations and increased political activity of the population. Active discussions took place between the parties and the electorate, critical assessments of the opponents' election programs were heard from the candidates. The televised debates were held between their representatives.

    The elections are directly observed by 971 international observers from almost 50 countries and 20 international organizations. About 1,700 representatives of domestic and foreign media were accredited to ensure transparency and publicity of the election process.

    The Presidential Election is an important political event for the future of the country. Citizens are deeply aware of this and actively participate in the elections.
