Among the country’s priority tasks are the development of strategic economic sectors on a scientific basis, the expansion of innovation, and the production of high-value-added products. This process is closely linked to training qualified personnel with modern knowledge and practical skills.

To this end, the New Uzbekistan University was established in accordance with the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan of June 23, 2021.

The new university complex in New Tashkent, with an initial cost of $200 million, will cover 50 hectares.

The project was developed in collaboration with Turkish specialists at the request of the New Tashkent Construction Directorate. Özgüven Company is carrying out the construction work. The university complex is scheduled for commissioning in 2027.

The complex will include five faculties serving 10,000 students, a rector’s office, a library with more than 1,000 seats, a museum, an exhibition hall, and multimedia rooms. A sports complex with 1,000 seats, residential buildings with a capacity of 2,000 people, a swimming pool, and dining halls will also be built for students and teachers.

Construction work is currently being carried out in three stages. The Head of State paid special attention to the project’s main parameters, infrastructure, and the conditions created for the educational process. The importance of modern academic institutions in realizing young people’s scientific and intellectual potential was emphasized separately.

“The creative work carried out at this university, as well as the educational programs implemented here, should serve as a model for other higher education institutions”, emphasized the Head of State.

Responsible persons have been instructed to renovate and equip other universities gradually and to introduce advanced technologies into the educational process widely.

Work is also underway to construct a new building for the National Library of Uzbekistan on a site covering approximately 4 hectares. The building has been designed to combine traditional national architecture with modern architectural solutions.

The four-story building’s total area exceeds 30,000 square meters and can serve 1,420 readers simultaneously. Special high-tech rooms will be created for storage, accounting, security, and sterilization of library collections.

The complex will be multifunctional and will provide online access to the electronic databases of major international and national libraries. A special environment for reading and research will be created for citizens with visual impairments. A 300-seat café, a gallery, sports grounds, and recreation areas will also be built for visitors.

The President emphasized that this library will play an essential role among the educational and enlightenment centers being established in New Tashkent and will serve as a solid foundation for the intellectual development of the younger generation. It was noted that a state that invests in science and education will have high economic potential.

The importance of in-depth mastery of information technology and international standards by employees for the effective use of the capabilities of a modern library was emphasized.
