President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was informed about the current state and plans for the implementation of major regional railway infrastructure projects.

Uzbekistan needs to diversify transport routes for quick and unhindered access to world markets. The Head of the state constantly raises this issue at international events and initiates practical solutions. Thanks to the agreements reached with foreign partners, work on projects is accelerating.

One of them is the construction of the 454-kilometer Uzbekistan – Kyrgyzstan – China railway. As is known, a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding on this project was signed in Samarkand on September 14 this year. In November, field research was conducted by the First Design and Research Institute of China.

During the report, the responsible persons told about the planned work. In particular, a project office will be created in Bishkek. The forms and procedures of project management are discussed. Talks will be held with international financial organizations. In general, it is planned to prepare a feasibility study of the project by June 1.

Another regional project is the Termez – Mazar-i-Sharif – Kabul – Peshawar railway. Despite the difficult situation in Afghanistan, significant progress is also observed on the project.

In particular, this summer a research expedition was organized from the city of Mazar-i-Sharif in Afghanistan to the city of Torkham in Pakistan.

It was noted that 765 kilometers of railways are planned to be built within the framework of the project. Next year, it is planned to create a project office, attract an international consulting company, and negotiate with investors. As a result, a feasibility study of the project will be prepared.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved these plans and instructed to develop roadmaps in cooperation with partner countries.

The construction of these railway lines will diversify transport communications and significantly increase the logistics capabilities of Uzbekistan.
